History of Teliagarhi and Teliagarhi Fort

From the 13th century, Teliagarhi has served as the primary entry point for Muslim armies travelling from northern India to Bengal. To reach Bengal, Bakhtiyar Khilji travelled across the Teliagarhi pass. In Teliagarhi, Sher Shah Suri and Humayun engaged in a decisive battle in 1538. At Teliagarhi and Rajmahal, the insurgent Prince Khurram battled alongside Ibrahim Khan for rule of the Bengal. Teliagarhi Fort was built by Teli Zamindar. Maa Raksi Sthan temple was built near the Telagarhi Fort in 1819.
